New York Salsa Congress Thur-Sun 2005-09-01/04

There is a huge Salsa Congress in New York City Thursday to Sunday Sep 1 to 4. Click here for detailed information.

Congress Costs: There are separate event/workshop costs totalling US$305. However, you may purchase a full congress pass for US$245 before July 1 and qualify for a raffle. You may purchase it via credit card, PayPal, cheque, or money order. Check the above link for details.

Hotels: The congress is held at the Hilton New York (6th Ave and West 53rd St). There is a special rate of US$153/night but you must reserve before Aug 1.

If any Toronto Dance student is interested in going, please contact us since we could plan to go together.

Outing for Latin-Ballroom students Fri 2005-08-12

There is an official outing Fri Aug 12 to Westway Club for Latin-Ballroom students at all levels. This is your end-of-term dance outing. Please check your emails for details.

Westway Club is located on 291 Evans St - click here for a map. It starts at 8:00pm. The discounted cost is $12 including a light hot meal at 10:00pm. Dress code applies - no jeans or T-shirts. Contact us if you are interested in joining us.

Outing report: There were 41 Toronto Dance students and 9 guests for a total of 50 people.

Toronto Island Picnic Sun 2005-08-06

Toronto Dance is hosting a picnic on Toronto Island for Toronto Dance students in Salsa-Nightclub Latin-Ballroom. It is on Saturday Aug 6 11am to 6pm.

Outing report: The weather was a fantastic 27C and sunny (not a single cloud in the sky. Many people came late (after 1pm). There were 33 Toronto Dance members and 13 guests for a total of 46 people. Some people may have been lost trying to find us.

Movie "Mad Hot Ballroom" 2005-07-30 to 08-01

There is a new movie about 6000 New York City 11-year-old kids who want to compete in Latin-Ballroom competitions. The movie is being shown on Sat-Mon July 30 to Aug 1, 7:00pm at the Bloor Cinema. There is a Toronto Dance-only official outing Sat July 23 to Acrobat for students at all levels and their guests. Please check your emails for details. You must be on a Toronto Dance invitation list to get in at a discounted price.

Outing report: There were 83 Toronto Dance members and 31 guests for a total of 114 people.

Outing for Latin-Ballroom students Fri 2005-07-22

There is an official outing Fri July 22 to Danforth Baptist Church for Latin-Ballroom students at all levels. Please check your emails for details. This is a great place to practice your dance steps in a Toronto Dance-only environment.

Outing report: There were 42 Toronto Dance members and 5 guests for a total of 47 people.

Outing for Salsa-Nightclub students Sat 2005-07-09

There is a Toronto Dance official outing Sat July 9 to Plaza Flamingo for students at all levels and their guests. Please check your emails for details. There will be a dinner 8:30-10:00pm, lessons (level 1 at 8:45-9:45pm and level 2-3 at 9:45-10:45pm), and dancing until midnight, all for an amazingly low prices! Tickets must be purchased in advance with no tickets sold at the door. You must be on a Toronto Dance invitation list to get this special rate.

Outing report: There were 170 Toronto Dance members and 44 guests for a total of 214 people. Everyone loved the lessons, food, decor, and music (which we were able to control).

Watch a Latin-Ballroom competition Sun 2005-07-09

Come out and watch latin-ballroom competitors from around southern Ontario. The "Trillium Trophy" competition is in Mississauga.

Update 2005-06-12: Unfortunately this event has been cancelled.

There is a Toronto Dance-only official outing Sat Jun 18 to Acrobat for students at levels 2+ and their guests. Please check your emails for details. You must be on a Toronto Dance invitation list to get in.

Outing for Latin-Ballroom students Fri 2005-06-17

There is an official outing Fri Jun 17 to 30-Up Club for Latin-Ballroom students at level 2 or higher. Please check your emails for details. You must be on a Toronto Dance invitation list to get in to this club, usually for 30-Up members only.

30-Up Club is located at 22 Dorchester Ave - click here for a map. Doors open at 7:30pm and dancing starts at 8:00pm. The cost is $13 including a light hot meal at 9:30pm. Dress code applies - no jeans or T-shirts. Please dress up. We are going there also to celebrate Chuan's birthday.

Outing report: There were 43 people who attended the outing. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the 30-Up Club and wants to go back there again. There was an imposed limit of 150 people so we made up 29% of the people there! There were actually 4 birthdays celebrated: Chuan, Natalia, Ninette, and Lina.
