International DanceSport Latin World Championships: Ostrava,
Czech Republic
The 2005 IDSF World Latin Championship took place in Ostrava in the Czech
Republic. Some five hours drive from the capital Prague, the growth of this
bustling industrial hub has been fuelled by the mining industry. It is
believed that coal was first extracted in the area over 30,000 years ago
by mammoth hunters looking to keep their home fires burning. Back in the
here and now, it's Latin passion and the IDSF World Title that are turning
up the heat. The Championship was held in the "CEZ Arena", a huge sports
hall renovated two years ago for the 2004 World Ice Hockey Championship.
The hall was packed with 4,500 enthusiastic spectators. Program includes
short interviews/introductions of the main favourites, a feature on the
2nd-ranked Italian brother and sister pairing of Stefano and Annalisa
DiFilippo in their hometown Rome, action from the semi-final and the
complete final of the Championship.
Duration: 00:53:24
International DanceSport Standard World Championships: Krefeld, Germany
The KonigPalast in Krefeld, Germany, hosts the 2005 IDSF World Championship
Standard. More than 5000 enthusiastic spectators saw a thrilling Final.
Clear favourites were the defending Champions Italy's Domenico Soale and
Gioia Cerasoli, unbeaten for almost 2 years. However, the Lithuanians
Arunas Bizokas and Edita Daniute pushed the Italians hard at last year's
World Championship on home soil -beaten into the runners-up place only
after the very last dance. The German brother and sister pairing of Sascha
and Natascha Karabey came 3rd at last year but are expected to attack their
2 closest rivals on home soil. Program includes short introductions of the
main favourites, a feature on the top-ranked English Standard couple Warren
and Kristi Boyce at their home in Bournemouth/UK, action from the semi-final
and the complete final of the Championship.
Duration: 00:52:59
International DanceSport 10-Dance World Championships: Vienna, Austria
Each November Vienna is the venue for a whole weekend of popular competitions
for all age-groups staged by the Austrian DanceSport Federation, culminating
this year in the 2005 IDSF World Ten Dance Championships. A capacity crowd
of 3000 enthusiastic spectators in the Wiener Stadthalle followed what is
regarded by many as DanceSport's ultimate test. Performed over 10 dances -
5 in each style (Latin and Standard) - the event makes huge demands on the
participants' concentration and stamina. Fitness and good preparation are
absolutely essential. Program includes short interviews/introductions of
the main favourites, a feature on the defending Champions Misa
Cigoj/Anastasija Novozilova (Slovenia) in Vienna, and action from final
of the Championship.
