Watch "IDSF World Latin Championships" on TV Mon 2007-12-10The "IDSF World Standard Championships" is a competition where some of the world's best ballroom dancers to compete for the prestigious 2007 IDSF Championship. The competition features the five dances of the Standard section (Waltz, Tango, Viennese Waltz, Foxtrot, Quickstep). It is on the Bravo channel. In Toronto, it can be seen on Rogers cable 40, 9:00-10:00pm.

Outing report: There were 73 Toronto Dance members and 11 guests for a total of 84 attendees. The biggest Latin-Ballroom attendance to a dance outing ever was 85 attendees!

This extremely popular show (season 5) premieres with a 3-night event on Mon Sep 24 8:00-9:30pm on CFTO. The second episode will be Tue Sep 25 8:00-9:30pm with the first results show premiering on Wed Sep 26 8:00-9:00pm. Watch "Ballroom For Life" stage show Fri 2007-11-16
The 10 dances are: Viennese Waltz, Waltz, Tango, Quickstep, Foxtrot, Rumba, Cha Cha, Jive, Paso Doble and Samba. The excellent dancing, magnificent choreography, and enchanting lighting, accompanied by familiar and well-loved melodies, will all guarantee an unforgettable night of elegance, romance and tradition.

There is an official outing Fri Oct 26 to Danforth Baptist Church for Latin-Ballroom students at levels 1 to 5. Please check your emails for details. Chuan Chee will teach a level 1 review lesson 7:45-8:30pm. This is a great place to practice your dance steps in a Toronto Dance-only environment.

Dress code (esp for evening events): The dress code is semi-formal, so a tie and jacket is recomended for men, and proper evening attire for women. No jeans please.

There is an annual Toronto Harbour salsa cruise aboard the River Gambler, pier #29, 261 Queens Quay East (east of Sherbourne St). Boarding starts 5pm (don't be late! - sails as soon as it is full). Sails until 10pm. This cruise is sponsored by Plaza Flamingo. |

Westway Club is located on 291 Evans St - click here for a map. It starts at 8:00pm. The discounted cost is $12 including a light hot meal at 10:00pm. Dress code applies - no jeans or T-shirts. Check your emails for your invitation. You need to be on a Toronto Dance list to get the discount.

There is an official outing Fri July 6 to Danforth Baptist Church for Latin-Ballroom students at levels 1 to 4. Please check your emails for details. Chuan Chee will teach a level 1 review lesson 7:45-8:30pm. This is a great place to practice your dance steps in a Toronto Dance-only environment.
Outing report: There were 70 Toronto Dance members and 0 guests. This is the biggest attendance at a mid-term dance practice (especially since it is summertime)!

Results: Congratulations to Alex and Angela! They came in first in Pre-Bronze Standard/Ballroom (Waltz and Quickstep) and first in Bronze Latin (Cha Cha, Rumba and Jive). Both events had 6 couples in it. |
